A professional writer and editor since 1997, Karen E. Spaeder began her writing career at Entrepreneur magazine as an editorial assistant and quickly worked her way up to copy editor, staff writer, and finally managing editor of the magazine and executive editor of Entrepreneur.com.
Karen's unique combination of writing and editing skills has allowed her to excel in any kind of editorial capacity, from copywriting and web content writing to feature writing, freelance editing and specialty writing tailored to the needs of a small-business audience. Currently, she is a copywriter and copy editor in the corporate marketing department at Experian in Costa Mesa, Calif., and maintains a steady clientele for her freelance writing and editing services.
In 2003, Karen left Entrepreneur Media to pursue additional endeavors, but she has continued to provide regular freelance writing and editing services to the company, including a column in Entrepreneur's Startups and a consulting role with Entrepreneur.com. She also serves on the advisory board for the Fullerton College Journalism Department in Fullerton, CA.
Karen has additional experience in the small-business arena as founder of Rain Frog Apparel, a bamboo clothing company based in Southern California. Managing the intricacies of sourcing suppliers, blogwriting and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives has allowed her to expand her sphere of editorial influence while also earning her a spot in Entrepreneur magazine's May 2008 issue and the May 2009 issue of OC Family.
